| Introduction | My name is Terry Coote and I am 80 years of age and have been married to my wonderful wife, Patricia, for 41 years. My early years were dominated by my love of participating in a variety of sports (mainly football) and this continued, albeit to a lesser degree, throughout my life until I reached my 60’s. In fact my wife and I opened, and ran our own sports shop for 10 years. After leaving school my first job was working in a Stockbrokers office which was housed in premises in a tiny alley called Tokenhouse Yard situated at the back of the Bank of England. My final employment before I retired was as a civil servant working very closely with the judges in the highest echelon of the Immigration and Appeals Service. If there is one thing I have learnt over the past 5 years is that time is a precious and rare commodity and should not be wasted. |
| Interests | Having retired I have slowly renovated and upgraded my house and have spent many hours working on my gardens in the front and back of the house. The garden is my favourite hobby. I like to read and listen to music on my Wurlitzer juke box and, when I have the time, do some drawing. I have also dabbled in a bit of painting, which I don’t particularly enjoy, and the results have been somewhere between a reluctant ‘okay’ and downright rubbish. During and after Covid I wrote several short stories which were well received and then ventured into writing a, not very good, novel. Hopefully I’ll find time to get back to it and improve it. |
