| Introduction | The Boy Who Made Silence issue 1 was originally self-published under the publisher name 5 Mined Fields after receiving a Xeric Grant in 2007 for comic book and graphic novel self-publishers. Following the initial publication, AAM/Markosia offered to publish the series in its entirety. The series made it to issue 6 (of 12) before Diamond Comics Distributors canceled its orders. Before being canceled The Boy Who Made Silence received immensely positive reviews by a cross section of comics press. It has been on hiatus since early 2008. SUMMARY: When twelve-year-old Esmé saves small-town deaf boy Nestor Gudfred from drowning, he is inexplicably able to cast the townspeople into each others' pasts and dreams. Nestor begins to receive visitations from Peter’n’Charlie, a strange cat-headed rhetorician and Pastor Buddy, a minister in search of a prophet. While the town seems to regard Nestor as a prophet, he begins a search for his long-lost father in this surrealist meditation on the nature of religious belief.
