Introduction We moved here from Seattle, WA to be closer to my dad. He is 83 years old and for the most part, he is actually healthy. He lived on the Big Island alone so it was the right thing as a daughter to move and be closer to him and just be there in case he needs me. I didn't learn how to sew until 25 years ago. I actually failed Home Economics in high school. I couldn't sew or even cook. I was just not that kind of gal. *sigh* When I moved out on my own, I had to learn these things on my own. I am self-taught quilter. What inspired me to sew was the colors, prints in the fabric, patterns, florals, you name it, I fell in love. I also love challenging myself in putting colors together. This is where making quilts came into play. I haven't stopped since. My favorite part of quilting applique and paper piecing. Appliqueing is very relaxing for me. I can just sit and applique all day long. Now when it comes to paper piecing, obvious my focus is on machine sewing. A lot of quilters do not like paper piecing. What I love about paper piecing is my points and accuracy. Yes, I am somewhat of an O.C.D. quilter. I
Interests Hello, I’m Liz behind, Morgan’s Corner blog. I live in the third world of the Big Island of Hawaii. Just kidding. The town is called Pahoa, Hawaii. I know some of you might have heard in your local news about Pahoa. Yes, I live near a volcano. Well, at the moment, we don't know where the lava is flowing anymore since the last eruption in 2018. Life was challenging since moving here from Seattle in 2014 with my wonderful husband who supports me unconditionally. Well, except for when I wanted to get a goat! haha. We weren't blessed with children of our own. However, I have two step-daughters living their life back in Seattle. So, to compensate for our own children, we have three dogs, two cats and I cannot forget the 5 hens! My hobbies are, quilting, reading, gardening, and organizing. Life is good! Aside from my “own” family, I also am a caregiver to my brother. He suffered a massive stroke last year. The stroke left him unable to really talk or comprehend. He also is dealing with memory loss. He was a very hardworking man, love for his children and family. So, to see him this way, it just breaks my heart.
Favorite Movies guess it is the engineering background. Last year, in 2018, I made four queen size Hawaiian quilts which I will share with you soon. ABOUT this Blog... I wanted to keep a journal of my life, faith, quilting and sewing projects. However, life just got too crazy for me. It was difficult. I have no idea why but that is how I felt. Maybe our good Lord felt I was not ready to have a blog then. So, after a few years, I shut "My Sew Called Life..." down. Then, after shutting it down, months went by and blogging came to mind. So here I am again, I decided "Morgan’s Corner” life, faith, and quilts. I love sharing my love of quilting, recipes, show off my family, sharing a verse from scriptures to share with everyone here. Hopefully, you can help me advance my learning curve! (8
