Introduction I am currently making paintings using beeswax and oil paint. I look towards Nature and my experience of life, travel etc. to inform my paintings. I make up most of my imagery from my imagination or my attempt to remember what something looked like or more importantly what it felt like. I work intuitively, often not knowing where I am going but instead figuring it out as I go along. This process results in many layers which get covered and uncovered in the long duration of working on the painting. As a result of all the wrong directions and mistakes that become layered upon one another, the painting ends up having a patina or aged quality. This invokes a feeing of time and history, both which I feel is important to the work. In the end it's the balanced blend of clarity and obscurity in the painting that ends up giving me the feeling that the work is approaching completion. I use sandpaper, scratching tools, rags as well as traditional paintbrushes in the making of the paintings.
