About me

Occupation Graphic Artist
Location Maine, United States
Introduction My interest in making Christmas ornaments started in junior high when a home economics teacher introduced me to making ornaments out of felt. It stuck! I'm still making ornaments, and still love working with felt, but my choice of materials has greatly expanded. Ornaments lend themselves to many techniques and materials. For me, the small projects are ideal, because they allow me to try out many ideas and I find that I don’t get bored with them. For the past 25 years, I have managed to squeeze in at least one craft show a year around Christmas time between my full-time career as a graphic artist, housework, gardening, etc. In the early 1990’s a show required that I had a tax number, this is when I started Farmside Crafts. Craft shows have been a great way for me to keep making ornaments on a somewhat large scale and earn a little extra cash for Christmas shopping. Paper mache and quilling (paper filigree) are the two unique crafts that I do for shows. But, the projects shared here have also become as equally important. They are fun, inexpensive and most importantly, they make people smile.
