| Introduction | I titled this blog crossing the line because it reminds me of both where I am going in my quest to finish the grand slam and how far I've come and the lines I've already crossed to constantly explore and go where I didn't think possible. There are three major lines that I have crossed to date: 1) I'm a Navy girl. My Dad and Uncle served and I served 6 years as a welder. You can imagine that there weren't many female welders! The Navy had a heavy role in shaping who I am today. 2) College and corporate America. After the Navy, I went to college and when I earned my electrical engineering degree. So in my late 30s, I started a new career and joined a new family at Cisco where I continue to learn, thrive, and contribute. 3) Running a loooooong way. I do consider my self an average runner. I didn't start running until my late 30s when I did my first marathon. The Disney Goofy challenge, a half marathon and marathon in the same weekend, started my "ultra" career. Like most ultra runners, I have a set of crazy friends that keep pushing the line of what's next and they make up my ever growing run family. |
