| Introduction | I am a Christian, follower of Jesus Christ. I am a United Methodist; believing in things like social holiness and works of mercy, the irrevocable connection between works and faith with faith as the primary mover. I believe in things like works of piety, that all of humanity and creation is in a constant state of connection and separation from God but that followers of Christ are always working toward perfect union with God. I am a United Methodist Elder in Full Connection. That's church speak for I'm a a real-deal, seminary-trained, master's-degree-holding, it-took-me-8-years-to-get-through-the-process-and-that's-normal, it's-my-day-job, honest-to-goodness, pastor. It also means that I took vows. Holy vows much like the vows taken marriage that mean my profession is more like a lifestyle than a job. |
