| Introduction | It is partly due to my love for the singer Teena Marie (she has a song called High Yellow Girl) and the rantings of my southern grandmothers that I am reminded that I am a high yellow girl. While this is a term used to describe the complexion of my skin, it is only a part of who I am. I am GOD's child, I am a resident of the planet earth, I am an American, I am a woman, I am of African American ancestry; I am a daughter, a sister, and a friend. These are the makings of me. This website is dedicated to OPINIONS and my way of seeing things; hence HiYelaGurl-isms. I love awesome-mess, fabulous-ness, and sensationalism. There is a big world out there to explore and I'm diving in! |
