Introduction Hi - I am Larry Whyte. In 2006 I became the World Champion Drug Free Powerlifter in the 90 Kg category, bringing home 4 gold medals from the Championships in Bendigo, Australia. I was proud of my achievement as I had only just returned to the sport after a 15 year break, and I had also reached the golden age of 50. Prior to the success in Australia, I became the British Masters Champion & the Midlands Masters Champion, breaking at least two World Records in the process. I entered powerlifting in my mid twenties, after being encouraged by the owner of the bodybuilding gym I used to attend. My last big achievement before I temporarily 'retired' in the early 1990's was to win the South West Powerlifting Championships, hoisting a decent 295 Kg's. Prior to this, I was a keen all round sportsman at school, competing in events like running & high jump. As I got older, I even got into martial arts & boxing, as I liked the physical stuff & found I had a natural flexibility & speed. In 2007, I trained as a Gym Instructor (REP's level 2)in which I hope to pass on some of my experience to others who wish to achieve great things.
