Introduction Dr Michael de Percy FRSA FCILT MRSN (PhD ANU, BPhil Hons UC, BA Deakin) is a political scientist and political commentator. He is a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon, where he received the Royal Australian Artillery prize. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, a Chartered Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport and Chairman of the ACT Chapter, Vice President of the Telecommunications Association (TelSoc), Public Policy Editor of the Journal of Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, and a member of the Australian Nuclear Association. He was appointed to the Australian Research Council's College of Experts in 2022. Michael's research focuses on comparative politics and policy, government-business relations, transport, telecommunications and energy policy, and leadership. His most recent work includes COVID-19 and Foreign Aid: Nationalism and Global Development in a New World Order, Routledge 2023, (with Jakupec and Kelly), research in Policy Studies, Journal of Telecommunications and the Digital Economy, and Australian Journal of Social Issues, and opinion in The Australian, The Spectator Australia, and The Interpreter.
