Introduction I am the mother of four children. Three of our four children have autism. Our oldest daughter has Asperger's syndrome (she is very intelligent), Our second daughter, who is gay, is a speech and language pathologist. Our boys both have autism. Our second son died in 1996, at age 23. Our life has been rich and full because of our children, not in spite of them. I have a website to help other parents of special needs children. If you would like to read more about our children go to my website at www.challengingadversity.com Since 2001 our family has been on the gluten free/ casein free diet as a treatment for autism. It has made a big difference. You can read about it on my website by clicking on the tab, "what worked for us". Changing the subject, our family lived for eight and a half years on the Navajo Indian reservation. We have many happy memories of that experience. We have almost always had a dog who is a considered a member of our family. We currently have a big Golden Retriever. We have recently had two Great Danes. In the past we had two Akitas that we loved dearly.
Interests Animals, especially Dogs, American Sign Language and Deaf culture, piano and organ. I played drums in high school and I still love the drums.
