Industry Education
Occupation Journalism Instructor/Adviser at Linn-Benton Community College
Location Albany-Corvallis, Oregon
Introduction I've been the journalism instructor and student media adviser at Linn-Benton Community College in Albany, Ore., since 2007. Before joining LBCC, I worked for more than 20 years at the Corvallis Gazette-Times. Besides serving for nine years as managing editor, I had stints as a reporter, copy editor and Opinion page editor. I've written news, feature and sports stories, along with taking photos and designing news pages. My training began at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where I earned a degree in mass communication-journalism and English. I did an internship at the Milwaukee Journal (now the Journal Sentinel) and a fellowship at Arizona Newspapers, which includes the Arizona Republic. I have an MBA from Willamette University in Salem. So in addition to journalism and new media, I have expertise in marketing, business strategy and public relations.
