IntroductionEby Hara is a lecturer at the Department of International Relations, University of Jember. He completed his MA and PhD from the Research School, Pacific and Asian Studies (RSPAS), ANU, Canberra. His area of interest is ASEAN cooperation, Indonesian Foreign Policy, and democracy in Southeast Asia. He wrote in several journals and books such as 'ASEAN Paradigm Shift from a state to people-oriented organization: a neo-communitarian perspective' (written together with Dr. Azizzuddin Mohd Sani), in Japanese Journal of Political Science, 14(3), 2013 and 'Pancasila and Perda sharî'ah Debates in the Post-Soeharto Era: toward a New Political Consensus', Chapter 3 in Okamoto Masaaki (et. a.), Islam in Contention: Rethinking Islam and State in Indonesia (Kyoto: Center for Southeast Asian Studies 2010). His latest articles are ‘The Concerns and Sustainability of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) ', in Benedict McClelland (Ed). Sustainable Future of Human Security (Singapore: Springer, 2018) and ‘Populism in Indonesia and its Threats to Democracy’, published by Atlantis Press (2018).
