| Introduction | Born in Africa, I moved to England with my family 20 years ago and came late to art as an add-on to my design and craft teaching. I took an A level in my mid-forties and then did a BTEC Foundation in Fine Art. Looking back I realise how often the colours of Africa influence my painting as do the memories I hold. I revelled in the life drawing classes that went with my learning, and in particular the layered images that built up with multiple poses held briefly and then changed and repeated again and again. Tackling this directly in paint is exhilarating and exhausting! |
