Introduction | The mourning dove shown here was killed by my neighbor's cat. Her mate chanted koo kurikoo koo koo as loudly as he could for 18 hours non-stop after she died and then he flew off. He returned and did the same thing one year later for four consecutive hours. His mourning inspired my novel, Mourning Dove. The Image of me is a very old sketch by Kelly Freas, the artist who drew Mad Magazine's Alfred E. Newman. |
