Introduction	SmashMouth Games is an award-winning independent development company focusing on creating casual and innovative videogames for the download market. Established in 2006, the company’s goal was to design, create and develop a prototype of its first game, Ongaku. Released as a Flash Version on the Internet in 2007, the game achieved over 100 000 downloads in its initial two week launch (now over 500 000 downloads). Ongaku went on to win the ‘Armor Games Rhythm Action Competition’ hosted by the website Newgrounds.com – probably the most visited Flash-Portal on the Internet. In May 2008, Ongaku was nominated for Game of the Year by Newgrounds. Ongaku is now available on PC portals and on www.ongakugame.com. SmashMouth Games also works closely with Institutions of Higher Education Games and Software related courses, thus facilitating the route of students into Industry by focusing on a ‘High Standard Implementation Approach’, ensuring they are Fit for Practice, Fit for Purpose and Fit for Award. We offer guidance and support solutions in consultancy and developmental practices to existing service providers, to ensure that their quality and time thresholds are not compromised.
