Introduction	I’m a denizen of Eugene, Oregon (Seventeenth & Lawrence since 1999) who likes to write these short word portraits about people, places, events and moments, all true. I’m inspired by the New Yorker’s Talk of the Town stories, especially the vintage ones—elegant glimpses of life that are just as interesting today as they must have been in the 1920s. Finding little practical application for this old-fashioned avocation, and no other place to gather and publish these stories, I’m going to post them here occasionally.
