Introduction	I'm the Director and owner of Safeguard Martial Arts in Langley, British Columbia. I began my Martial Arts training as a teenager in Judo and later as a young Royal Canadian Mounted Police constable in the traditional Japanese Shotokan style of Karate. During my career in the RCMP and later in the Canadian Security Intelligence Service, I spent many of my casual hours working with youth and the community. In 1994 I was awarded The Commemorative Medal for Service to the Community by the Governor General of Canada. I am keenly interested in how martial arts training can improve a student's self esteem and confidence and thereby reducing their susceptibility to bullying.
