Location | Wisconsin, United States |
Introduction | Consider this my online files and archives. |
Interests | Reading, writing, gardening, walking, not hesitating to make my opinions known. Specific reading interests include American social history and architecture. A book like "Googie: Fifties Coffee Shop Architecture" fits the bill perfectly. |
Favorite movies | Hitchcock comes first: North by Northwest, Vertigo, Strangers on a Train, Shadow of a Doubt. |
Favorite music | "Eclectic" best describes my taste in music. I tune into Spotify, Luxuria, Great Big Radio, and numerous Siriux/XM channels |
Favorite books | A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole. (Listen to the audiobook version performed by Barrett Whitener, a master at voice characterization.) All of the Rabbit novels by John Updike: Rabbit Run, Rabbit Redux, Rabbit is Rich, Rabbit at Rest. (Favorite Updike quote: "It's like wood," Harry says, groping back through history, which is a tinted fog to him, marked off in centuries like a football field, with a few dates -- 1066, 1776 -- pinpointed and a few faces -- George Washington, Hitler -- hanging along the sidelines, not cheering." Anything by Richard Russo, although Nobody's Fool is my favorite. |
