| Introduction | Where we've been..... Cathy started to become sick the week of June 23rd, 2008. By Friday of that week she had lost her appetite and energy. On Saturday she became very congested and by Sunday she felt that she could not wait for a prescheduled doctor's appointment that Monday. She was taken to the Ronald Regan UCLA Medical Center emergency room at midnight 6/29. (The hospital had just opened approximately 18 hours earlier). By Monday afternoon (6/30) Cathy was unresponsive, was obviously struggling to breath, and could not maintain proper oxygen levels in her blood stream. Cathy was put on a ventillator and transferred to an ICU. It was determined that Cathy had a pneumonia caused by viral, bacterial and fungal infections. She was treated with several antibiotics and antifungal medications. She was also given antibodies to help fight the viral infection. This Blog has been set up to update those that love Cathy and wish to stay up on the progress of her recovery. |
