About me

Industry Education
Occupation First Grade Teacher
Location Townsend, MA, United States
Introduction I have just completed my fourth year of teaching, but my first as a first grade classroom teacher (25 students and no paraprofessional-yikes). The past 3 years I taught Special Education k-4, but due to budget cuts and restructuring of schools a first grade position was proposed to me two days before the start of school, needless to say I was crazy enough to take it! I am currently certified in Special Education and General Education in NH and MA. I am also Wilson Reading certified, which I still use often in my first grade classroom. I know A LOT about my district, since I was a student in it from seventh grade up, participated in pre-student teaching and student teaching; some of my teachers are still working here! I am very thankful for this because it has helped me network quickly and allowed me to really appreciate all aspects of our community while having a slight edge ☺. A
Interests My husband and I recently purchased our first home, so we are becoming frequent flyers at Home Depot, and Lowes. We also find ourselves watching HGTV often :) Our newest addition is our Beagle Lab Mix Neely (Yes, after Cam Neely) who is 6 months old. She is very entertaining, and supports my addiction to shoes because she eats so many and causes me to have to go get more!
Favorite Books Currently I find it difficult to read books for my own personal enjoyment between Teaching and Graduate course work. I do enjoy reading mysteries such as James Patterson and Mary Higgins Clark. If you have any suggestions for good summer reads please let me know!
