| Introduction | I'm a transplant from Indiana, PA to New York, NY and NJ, attracted to the city for arts, culture and education. Teaching in urban schools after a career in graphic arts and publishing has created a passion for working with young adults in my graphic arts teaching career. The students who are participating in this blog are from the High School of Graphic Communication Arts in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood on New York City's west side. They are students in a Career and Technology program, the Academy of Visual Arts. In collaboration with teachers of English, Spanish and Graphic Communication Arts, these students are learning digital design and technology along with traditional fine arts skills in preparation for further education and careers in graphic design and digital media. |
