| Introduction | I'm a post-doctoral research scientist studying paleoclimatology. As a scientist I spend a lot of time with data - generating it in the lab, looking at it, slicing and dicing and modeling it. When I'm not in the lab, using Matlab, abusing Excel or writing papers, I'm trying to keep up with current events. I'm secretly addicted to sports talk radio and constantly fascinated and annoyed by the use/misuse of data - small sample sizes, outlier events, and wild extrapolation. I'm a political junkie and have very particular tastes in music. |
