| Introduction | Born in NZ to Irish parents I was introduced to horse racing at an early age as well as the game of golf, before my family resettled in Ireland when I was 11 years of age. I recall my first bet in a bookie shop when I was ~16 years of age on the Cheltenham Festival and got interested in the football coupons each Saturday thereafter. My earliest memory of a golf bet was when backing Sam Torrance to win The Irish Open at Portmarnock @ 33/1 in 1981 which he duly obliged in winning by 5 shots and I've been betting on golf tournaments ever since. My own sports career yielded umpteen semi final defeats in football, water polo and golf matchplays that has spilled over to my betting performance with numerous hard luck stories and ongoing playoff defeats. I was a keen follower of Cambo though and the 2005 US Open made up for my hard luck 100/1 Chris Di Marco Masters ticket earlier that year. As a new era in world golf is underway, I have found renewed interest in the various tours over the past two years and really enjoy this hobby trying to pick winners where I can |
