About me

LocationChicago, IL
IntroductionI was raised in a midwestern Christian fundamentalist family where I grew up attending a Baptist church with my family and became involved in outreach ministries, youth group, and campus fellowship. I have fond memories of listening to FotF, Adventures in Odyssey, and other Christian-themed radio broadcasts on a regular basis. After leaving college and moving to Chicago, I happened to catch a current FotF broadcast with a colleague while at work. The message and tone seemed strikingly different from what I remembered, and, from that day, I listened to nearly every daily episode and eventually began to search out other affiliates such as Family Research Council and The Alliance Defense Fund; subscribing to their newsletters and emails; comparing news sources and angles between the Christian programs and their “mainstream” counterparts; researching studies and figures quoted. I became interested in how this culture, to which I once belonged, interprets (or even spins) current events and promotes their almost wholly conservative agenda by adding Biblical weight and familial impetus on issues they feel important to their listeners. The result is this blog.
