| Introduction | I'm teaching at a middle school and a University simultaneously, so I guess I'm seriously flirting with schizoid tendencies. I returned to hunting after a 15 year hiatus, and have been very immersed in the rise of a different type of hunter ethic, that of the Locovore. This is a mythical creature that believes in eating from local sources, retrieving food from the wild, whether it is animal or vegetable, and generally going back to Hunter/Gatherer ways. I'm in my mid-to-late 50s, so I am in a hurry to get as much done as possible before I'm no longer able to muster the strength to get out in the field. However, I'm also using this as my way to return to activity in the outdoors, which is truly the best gymnasium in existence. I've never worked as hard on any set of exercise machines as I have on a Chukar hunt. I live in Southern California for the moment, and for the last 23 years. |
