Introduction Conceived as a means of documentation, this blog developed into a personal exploration of the Middle East and into my own transforming identity. It began in Palestine/Israel, monitoring human rights violations with the Palestinian Human Rights Monitoring Group. Simultaneously, I interviewed and transcribed testimony from refugees on their views on the future of the conflict with the Israeli Palestinian Center for Research and Information. It continued in Yemen, where I worked as Student Affairs and Special Programs Coordinator for the Yemen College of Middle Eastern Studies planning cultural events and directing a foreign exchange program. Eventually I accepted a position as Program Officer at Media Women's Forum, an ngo that develops the skills of women and men in the media. Additionally, I wrote as a journalist for Yemen Today Magazine while volunteering for Sister's Arab Forum, an ngo that promotes the rights of women and refugees. It ended literally upon my return to the US. In actuality, the enigma, power, beauty, and loss of this region have taken permanent residence in my being. Eternally I feel it, long for it, hope for it. Ma Salame ya habibi; we shall meet again.
