| Introduction | I grew up in Rossville, Georgia as the oldest grandchild of Eva Avans Baker. She was a resourceful woman whose hands are my strongest visual remembrance of her. I was the lucky little girl allowed under the quilt frame as she, her mom, sisters and friends chatted about their lives while they quilted together. I made my first quilt before college and have used this medium increasingly as a means of artistic expression. |
