Introduction | I was born on Good Friday and raised in Babylon (a NY town on Long Island). Perhaps that says it all! I am a retired United Methodist Bishop. Before my election to the episcopacy in July 2016, I was senior pastor at Glide Memorial United Methodist Church and an adjunct professor of United Methodist Studies at Pacific School of Religion. I hold a PhD in Religion and Society from Drew University. I love studying the intersection of church and culture. I have a severe case of wanderlust, which I believe I inherited from my Uncle Howie. I am grateful that my ministry affords me opportunities to travel. I love meeting new people, learning from new cultural contexts, and working with communities to change the world. |
