| Introduction | I love being outside, whether gardening, walking, hiking and kayaking. While out and about, I like to see what birds, animals, wild flowers and tracks are around. I keep a nature journal so I can remember what I've seen, where and when. I participate in citizen science bird studies for Cornell Lab of Ornithology. Before the pandemic, I ran Green Hour/Nature and Gardening Programs through the Round Lake Library. I had created a small children's garden there for nature study, playing, and planting. I am not sure what my future volunteer activities will be but I know I will always be hiking. Round Lake is located in upstate New York, about ten miles south of Saratoga Springs. |
| Interests | I am Most interested in connecting children and their families with nature. Before the pandemic, I ran a Green Hour program at the Round Lake Public Library. We learned about local birds, wildlife and what happens through the seasons. For eight years I taught a summer gardening program at the library where we grew a themed garden (pizza, taco, garden underground, flower power). It was Great fun to play in the dirt and grow edibles too! I want children to be curious and excited by nature. They will be our future decision makers and conservationists. |
