| Introduction | I am a princess among literary tramps, a queen in the Bohemia of phrase and fable. I take the road with courtly frivolity, starting nowhere to go nowhither. I recognize no purpose in my travels, save my determination to be rid of useless encumbrance. To follow my tracks may be an enterprise in impossibility; as surely as you catch a glimpse of me trudging on ahead, so surely shall I elude you at the next corner. This blog may well be a triumph in the art of digression. Never was a blog patched together (you dare not say composed!) with so little sense of plan. Its very title -- The Life and Opinions of T. Shandy, Ph.D. -- is purposely misleading, since I plan to share little of my actual life, save a few random, non-chronological misadventures, so you will know little of my career. Meanwhile, I doubt you will find a single "opinion" in these virtual pages that does not belong to the "real" author (who shall, of course, remain nameless), rather than her puppet, the well-named T. Shandy, Ph.D. |
