Introduction I’m a Capricorn, Greek brunette who likes to pretend she’s blonde. I’ve been creative since I was born, preferring art projects, reading and writing stories over playing with Barbies or sports. I won a national coloring contest when I was 11 and dreamed of being an artist. Setbacks along the way made me abandon my ideas of a creative life. But I secretly kept writing. In 2007, I went to a lecture by Elizabeth Gilbert, the author of “Eat Pray Love.” I asked her questions about her process during Q&A and later at the book signing she asked me if I was a writer. I was embarrassed and answered that one day I hoped to be. She looked me in the eyes and said, “That’s your problem.” I was speechless. Later, I looked inside my book to see what she had written. It said, “To Patricia, who is already a writer.” This was a turning point for me and I told myself that I would make creativity a part of my life again. In the past year, my father had a heart attack, I shifted careers, I have gone through separation and impending divorce, I made a major move back to my hometown and I began this blog. I dreamed of a life full of writing, art and a creative community. Now I have it.
