About me

Industry Science
Occupation Research technician
Location Reading, Berkshire, United Kingdom
Introduction I am a research technician working on the Urban Pollinators Project at the University of Reading and I am responsible for the organisation and execution of Reading-based fieldwork, and for specimen processing and data entry. My main interests are plant identification (especially native and ornamental higher plants) and wildlife gardening. Before taking up my current position, I worked in the Department of Landscape at University of Sheffield and at the NERC Centre for Ecology and Hydrology (CEH). I also hold my own allotment which I carefully manage for a bounty of fruit and veg, but also for wildlife especially pollinators. I keep bee hotels and over 30% wildflower habitat in the allotment to encourage insect pollinators. I have left the Urban Pollinators Project at the end of May 14 and now work at the Centre for Ecology and Hydrology in Wallingford as a field ecologist.
