| Introduction | I started writing programs when i was fifteen on a TI-57, but my favorite calculators were HP's ones. In the early '90 i wrote the first true spreadsheet for a handheld calculator and a self-compiling assembly language for the HP-48 as well as several symbolic matrix functions sold at EduCalc for years under the commercial name of "SmartROM", until the golden age of HP calculators was over. The venerable HP-85A where i taught myself HP BASIC at the beginning of the '80s is still functioning and i owe to its awesome programming user manual the sense of aesthetics that allows me to distinguish between a well written program and an ill designed piece of junk. A quarter of century after the introduction of that horrible hunk of metal called IBM PC AT, i finally became a proud owner of an 8-core Apple Mac Pro on top of which i run half a dozen of different operating systems using that amazing software called VMWare Fusion. However there is another genre of "programs" that i enjoy writing and, guess what, they are best known to the public as cooking recipes. Cheers, Flavio |
