Introduction	This is my 'practice writing' blog to capture memories of growing up on a barrier island, surrounded by hippie scientists, research professors and environmentalists of the 60s and 70s, and the wonderful people of the Hog Hammock community. And my life in Miami, Florida in the 80s, working in the thoroughbred horse breeding and racing business, a year in New York City working in the fashion design business and home again to Georgia to study city planning, urban design and environmental planning. I grew up in a well educated, loving family, mixed in were my extended family from southern Louisiana and East Texas, and the rest of the south who all knew how to cook and eat well, and enjoy life. It has been anything but boring and I would like to write it down before my memory fades any more.
