Introduction | I selected Ezra 7:10 as my blog pseudonym based that specific Old Testament passage. Ezra was a priest who returned from Babylon along with Zerubbabel and Jeshua. He was a student of the Scriptures (Ezra 7:10); a teacher and interpreter of the Scriptures (Nehemiah 8:2-8); and a scribe (Ezra 7:11). A descendent of Zadok, Ezra was also an able administrator who employed his leadership skills to bring the people back to Jerusalem. He was a man of deep humility and self-denial (Ezra 7:10-15; Ezra 10:6); a man of great learning with a zeal for the honor of God (Ezra 7:10; Ezra 8:21-23); a trustworthy man (Ezra 7:13,26); a man anxious to commend his cause to others (Ezra 8:2-20); a prayerful man (Ezra 8:21; Ezra 10:1); a man who grieved over the sins of his people (Ezra 9:3; Ezra 10:6); and, a man who led his people to repentance. In short, Ezra is my role model whose example teaches me about how I should approach life. Therefore, along with Ezra, I too set my heart to study the law of the LORD and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances. |
