Introduction	Traveling and living in other languages and cultures has enriched my life. After retiring from medicine, I have continued to travel and have embarked on a new journey--becoming a writer. After three years of work and much help from people in my writing groups in Fiji and Anchorage, I published my first article in 2010. The article was about a dog I owned who cost me more than $10,000 in vet bills over the course of his life. I loved him and would do it again. Currently, I write medical articles for Senior Voice, a local newspaper for seniors, and articles on many subjects for Alaska Business Monthly. My writing has also appeared in 49 Writers and Physician Practice's blogs. My latest project is a travel article about the white lions of South Africa.
