| Introduction | Gaius Columbus Julius Africanus is my full moniker. My real name, however, is Bema. I grew up in the sunny city of Accra but now live in Columbus. My journey to this point has been an interesting one. Through this blog, I hope to share experiences, ideas, and feelings in ways that I promise will always be respectful yet entirely honest, even when the issues that we discuss are painful or difficult. My own ardent desire is that you and I will always have deferentially open, intellectually stimulating, and emotionally energetic dialogue as we mull life's many issues. I trust that you too are looking for meaningful conversation and believe, like me, that we best achieve this end by being imaginative, intelligent, and, yes, genial. Some of my posts reflect my immigrant story but many more relate to issues about which I have passion and interest. So turn off the TV, pull up a comfortable chair, set that steaming cup of tea (coffee if you are like my friends or chocolate with lots of cream if you are like me) on the sturdy wooden table beside you, get your soul engaged and set your fingers atapping.
