IntroductionWhen “The Daily Show,” launched in 1996 it filled a void. Today, it is difficult to imagine television without it. Why hadn’t there been a program that parodied the news the way “The Daily Show,” did? News is the most prevalent type of content you can find anywhere in the world. There had to be more than just “Weekend Update,” on SNL to properly deconstruct it. “The Daily Show,” filled the void, and became must-see TV. While not a direct parody of the way sports are covered, like “The Daily Show,” “The Sports Riot!,” fills a much-needed void in sports content. This is a program that has uncensored opinions and comedy at its core, and sports are the target. It is definitely NOT the other way around. Because let’s face it, it’s just a bunch of games after all. Most sports programs that position themselves as “funny,” hold back. At the end of the day, those programs are still sports reports. “The Sports Riot!,” has no such boundaries.
