Introduction My background was originally in studio art (painting and sculpture, art for art's sake, and all that), although that isn't what I've been involved in professionally for quite a long time. I own and operate ChessMate.com as well as Mindspan Labs, designing and manufacturing chess and game products as well as little offerings such as "The Thinket." These days I also spend a lot of time thinking about the cosmos and the nature of the human condition. At times I try to incorporate those musings into my development of a variety of intriguing game and device ideas. On other fronts, I've been a vegan for the past two years or so, and I'm trying to focus on becoming much more "green" in my everyday life. As far as the current state of the world is concerned, specifically the mess that things seem to be drifting towards nowadays, I blame myself. But more about that later...
Interests Endeavoring to distill the essence of the cosmos from the infinite number of cryptic clues that are available to us as human beings... oh yeah, I like long walks on the beach too.
Favorite Movies The Star Wars series (of course), Terminator (pretty much all of them), Casablanca, Life is Beautiful, all of the Back to the Future Movies, The Unbearable Lightness of Being, the Batman movies (the recent ones), almost anything with Humphrey Bogart, Sean Connery, Jackie Chan, Drew Barrymore, Harrison Ford, Tom Hanks, Adam Sandler, Will Smith, Reese Witherspoon (because she is just so damn cute), or Dustin Hoffman in it, and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy, to name just a few.
Favorite Music Jazz, R&B, Mozart, the 60's era music of many artists (cliche though it may be, especially The Beatles), and lots of other good music; I definitely know it when I hear it...
Favorite Books The Song of Ice and Fire series by George R. R. Martin; The 64-Square Looking Glass; Catch 22, Player Piano, Cat's Cradle, Siddhartha, and just about any really good thesaurus.
