Introduction The National Maritime Security Advisory Committee (NMSAC) has been established under the authority of the Maritime Transportation Security Act of 2002 (Public Law 107-295), to provide advice to the Secretary of Homeland Security via the Commandant on matters such as national maritime security strategy and policy, actions required to meet current and future security threats, international cooperation on security issues, and security concerns of the maritime transportation industry. Committee membership consists of 21 members who have particular expertise, knowledge, and experience related to maritime security or port operations.
