Liberal Jarhead

About me

Gender Male
Occupation Retired Marine, psychotherapist, author
Location Albuquerque, New Mexico, United States
Introduction I'm a retired Marine, disabled vet, and psychotherapist, with three books on addiction treatment in print; I'm in my second retirement after working as a therapist in various settings, most recently a prison mental hospital. After more than 20 years in other places, I'm back where I grew up (living on the same block, actually) with one of my brothers and my daughter and grandkids living in the same neighborhood. My wife is a social worker at a hospice program. We share our house with a geriatric cat, and our grandkids (boys ages 4 and 6) have a bedroom here and spend a lot of time here too. I am a liberal in the sense of believing we all have a responsibility to be our brothers' and sisters' keepers; that the Bill of Rights is a sacred document and individual rights, privacy, and liberties are vital concerns; and that the separation of church and state is critical. I am not a blanket pacifist but am opposed to war except as a last resort, and believe that when war is necessary it should be conducted in as limited and ethical a way as possible. I consider the war in Iraq evil and tragic.

What spells can you cast with magic markers?

Well, my grandson misspells things every time he picks one up, so in his case, not many.
