Introduction | I'm a retired Marine, disabled vet, and psychotherapist, with three books on addiction treatment in print; I'm in my second retirement after working as a therapist in various settings, most recently a prison mental hospital. After more than 20 years in other places, I'm back where I grew up (living on the same block, actually) with one of my brothers and my daughter and grandkids living in the same neighborhood. My wife is a social worker at a hospice program. We share our house with a geriatric cat, and our grandkids (boys ages 4 and 6) have a bedroom here and spend a lot of time here too. I am a liberal in the sense of believing we all have a responsibility to be our brothers' and sisters' keepers; that the Bill of Rights is a sacred document and individual rights, privacy, and liberties are vital concerns; and that the separation of church and state is critical. I am not a blanket pacifist but am opposed to war except as a last resort, and believe that when war is necessary it should be conducted in as limited and ethical a way as possible. I consider the war in Iraq evil and tragic. |

What spells can you cast with magic markers?
Well, my grandson misspells things every time he picks one up, so in his case, not many.
