Location | New York, NY, United States |
Introduction | Born in the Philippines, Julian enrolled at The City College of New York where he studied architecture and took his first photographs with a Chinese plastic camera. After practicing as an Architect for more than a decade in New York, Los Angeles, the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, he pursued a childhood dream and became a professional helicopter pilot. Julian is a photographer of manmade environments He photographs spaces we inhabit, tools we use, man & machine working together and how both shape the landscape. Man's work is usually evident in his photographs. It is a common theme reflected in projects that include documenting life aboard heavy-lift cargo ships and low altitude helicopter road trips across America through the eyes of ferry pilots and a series of black & white aerials of New York City to explore the upper branches of a rarely seen forest of steel and concrete high above the ground. Currently he divides his time between New York City where he teaches flying and shoots aerial assignments, and Alaska. |
