Introduction | I always hit the snooze once. It's less about me, and more about my cat. Roger always waits until the second alarm to visit in the morning.
I really don't like being dirty. I blame my mother. She insisted on my hair being perfect when I was little, and I think that spilled over into every aspect of hygiene. If I were a wrestler, my signature move would be something like that of Famke Janssen in that James Bond movie, where she would kill her victims by squeezing their abdomens with her inner thighs. I've done a lot of both in my life, but I much prefer whittling with soap as opposed to whistling with wood. I can only whistle inward, which can cause cottonmouth and lightheadedness. The sheer danger in whittling soap is enough to intrigue me. In 5th grade, Laura Ward and I sat back-to-back, each armed with a knife and a bar of Ivory Soap. The challenge was to carve a two-piece animal out of said soap, using only verbal communication. After 15 minutes of feverish carving, the shell of my turtle didn't fit the body she had whittled. It was simultaneously frustrating and fascinating that we had so missed the mark. |
