| Introduction | A rockera turned mama, California transplant to the land of subway tracks and brownstone. I currently spend most of my music time listening to or searching for tolerable kids songs in Spanish. I manage to pay the bills, sleep 8 hours, cook for my kid, and get her to soccer class on time, but alas my guitar is collecting dust in the closet. Felipe Staiti is still my idol. I still dream of being a rock star in my next life. I still love dry, hot weather, though the New York summers are acceptable. Large bodies of water will always make me happy. One day I will wean my toddler and make the 1.5-hour train ride to catch a good show in Queens. In the meantime, I am blogging. |
| Interests | Street parties. Street protests. An end to U.S. imperialism. My daughter and nephews and nieces and other assorted children. Surviving the mosh pit. |
| Favorite movies | Movie? I think I saw one of those once. |
| Favorite music | Rock, cumbia, huastecas, sones jarochos y jalicenses, ...anything with sesquiáltera and pretty much anything that has both a clave beat and an electric guitar. I will never get enough of Enanitos Verdes fan, Heroes del Silencio and Enrique Bunbury's subsequent repertoire. I could also happily listen to Quetzal Flores jam out on the jarana until I die. |
| Favorite books | Leslie Marmon Silko, Joy Harjo, and Sherman Alexie are writers that move me. |
