| Introduction | Baltimore‘s ranking of “10th most sustainable city in the nation” prompted this website 2.5 years ago; it started as a "one-year" university thesis project designed to test the aforementioned claim. After college, I spent three months in Hawaii before the opportunity to crew on a sail boat through the South Pacific arose. (Crewing entails contributing to the boat in exchange for a berth, food to eat, knowledge about sailing, and an affordable means of travel. The demands, offerings, and destinations of every boat are different.) Three boats later, I was leaving Samoa on a sail boat called Drina in Oct. of 2009. Over one year has passed and I am still crewing on Drina while trying to learn all that I can from her experienced skipper, Michael. Our current route will take us across the Pacific to Chile and then south around Cape Horn. The stories from many of my adventures are here on this site. Throughout my travels, I maintain a focus on sustainability- the base of my research at university. I have no long term plan. Everything is subject to change. Right now, I am loving every single moment of this unpredictable, unstable, beautiful, and extraordinary life. Carpe diem. |
| Interests | I am currently on a sailboat somewhere in the middle of the Southern Pacific Ocean- en route to Chile from Australia via New Zealand. **Sorry for the delay in articles while we get across the Pacific. The good news is that I'll have plenty of time to catch up on my writing.** |
