| Introduction | "Is this chocolate or poop?" As a working mom in a house filled with agents of chaos (namely, two messy, headstrong children, ages 6 and 3, and one cocker spaniel as willful as her namesake, Scarlett O'Hara), I ask this question with disturbing frequency. As such, I have become expert at sniffing out the truth when it comes to questions of deep ambivalence. I will explore those areas of ambivalence in modern life and make my best determination. I can't tell you how to live or how to make your life better. Why would you listen to me anyway? I obviously don't have a good handle on things if I have to ask "Is this chocolate or poop?" about once a week. But I will conduct a very thorough investigation. |
