| Introduction | Gavin studied at Rhodes University, Grahamstown, South Africa, and Queen's University, Kingston ,Canada, where he graduated with a Ph.D. He lectured at Rhodes and at the University of Cape Town, after which he worked for a variety of NGOs and then at his own consultancy to various government departments and blue chip private sector companies. He entered politics for SA's liberal opposition party (Democratic Alliance) in 2009, when he became an MPL in Gauteng Province.He is an internationally published author. Gavin had a radio talk show on SA affairs for seven years prior to 2009(CLASSIC FM in Gauteng), and appeared on a similar show on the RDP for South Africa's official broadcaster, the SABC's Radio Today, prior to that. He has published widely as a freelance journalist and commentator, and from 1994-2010 as publisher of the RDP Monitor magazine. |
