Introduction I'm a computer rendering professor with an obsessive need to know, well... everything. I love to travel and experience the magic that comes with discovering a new and curious culture. Design guides my life and figuring out the reasons behind the design choices people make is one of my favorite pastimes.
Interests Honestly? Everything. Books, music, writing, movies, cartoons, Interior Design, art history, history in general, museums, dinosaurs, Egypt, English, sunsets, stars, rainbows, storms, rocks, philosophy, people, Japan, other cultures, eyes, teeth, words, colors, photography, shoes, fairies, world religions, weather, sleep, sound.... Everything.
Favorite Movies I've loved Goonies as long as I can remember. Probably some of the worst continuity in a film EVER, yet still an incredibly imaginative story that captures even MY unfocused mind. My Disney favorites (since everyone in this world is BOUND to have at least one) are The Sword in the Stone and Sleeping Beauty. Classic animation + classic story = can't go wrong! I've also had a love affair with the Muppets since my childhood. The Muppet Christmas Carol and Muppet Treasure Island are my favorites. Also, who can deny the pure magic of Hayao Miyazaki? My Neighbor Totoro and Howl's Moving Castle are brilliant, and Ponyo and Whisper of the Heart are amazing as well. Then as for more "adult" films, there are only four that I could watch over and over again in one sitting. The first is Pride and Prejudice (the new one with Keira Knightly). The second is more of a series of films really, but amazing none the less: Anne of Green Gables. The third is the 1993 version of The Secret Garden. I've got an old recording on a VHS tape from the year it was released, and when I was younger I nearly wore the tape to ribbons. Finally, the fourth is a different genre of film than the previous three but I love it all the same: 16 Candles.
Favorite Music Wowza, that's a killer question. I don't know that I could pick an absolute favorite because I pretty much love music simply for the sake of it. However, there are a few artists I've been in love with for a while. For "oldies", I kinda love Kenny Loggins, America, Phil Collins, and Sting. I've also been into Santana, Smash Mouth, The Beach Boys, and Michael Jackson for as long as I can remember. Then there's the random stuff: Vivaldi, *NSync, Loreena McKennitt, Angels & Airwaves, Creed, Danny Elfman, Dave Matthews, Beethoven, Dean Martin, Eminem, Enya, Evanescence, Flogging Molly, Fort Minor, Gaelic Storm, Handel, The Goo Goo Dolls, Jesse McCartney, Imogen Heap, Jim Stafford, Linkin Park, Panic and the Disco, Pink, Queen, and 30 Seconds to Mars. I know that was kind of a long list, but compared to my iTunes list you've seen nothing.
Favorite Books For a really strange reason that I've never been able to explain thoroughly enough to avoid the odd looks I get when I tell people: I love The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck. It has got to be the slowest moving book ever written in human history, but I think I developed a love for it when I was required to analyze it for a High School English course. Other than that one "oddity", I have a love and appreciation for a lot of books intended for young adults. There's just something so innocent and angst free about them that makes them a really fun read. Jane Austen and L.M. Montgomery are phenomenal authoresses as well.
