About me

Introduction So as you might have guessed I quite like mountaineering, but there is of course more to me than that. I also like rock climbing, Scottish winter climbing, Via ferrata, trekking and skiing. Over the past couple of years I have written a PhD thesis in Glaciology Geomorphology and in between this, and much to the exasperation of my PhD supervisor, worked as an expedition leader overseas. But this year was a chance for myself and boyfriend, James, to take a year off work and study and do the trip we had always wanted to do. For parts of this trip I have been awarded funding from the Mount Everest Foundation as well as the Julie Tullis Memorial Award (BMC) and the Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust. James has a Winston Churchill Fellowship.
Favorite Books Essential reading for this trip has been; Eastern Approaches by Fitzroy Maclean, The Great Game by Peter Hopkirk, In Xanadu by William Dalrymple, Three Cups of Tea by Greg Mortenson and David Relin, A Short Walk in the Hindu Kush by Eric Newby
